Consent is a conversation you can keep having
A good conversation makes it possible to say yes, say no, ask a question, or change your mind without pressure.
Ask about the specific idea
Instead of assuming that a general yes covers everything, ask about what you are actually suggesting. Choose words you both understand. A helpful invitation is direct and leaves time for a real answer. If you are uncertain about what someone means, pause and clarify instead of treating uncertainty as agreement.
Make changing course ordinary
You can say, “Would you like to keep going, change something, or stop?” Listen to the answer without turning it into a test of affection. Earlier interest, a gift, or being in a relationship does not remove the need to respect a current decision. A no does not require a negotiation.
Keep learning outside the moment
Talk about preferences at a relaxed time, too. You may find it easier to name what you enjoy or want to leave out when there is no immediate expectation. This guide offers conversation ideas, not legal advice. For questions about consent law, consult reliable information for your location.
